Ed Kashi, This is a look at the Kashi/Winokur household one year after Julie Winokurs father moved in with them. It is a project about how middle aged, working people struggle with caring for an ailing, elderly parent while also raising their own children. The characters are the father, Herb Winokur, Ed Kashi and Julie Winokur, their children Isabel Kashi, aged 9, and Eli Kashi, aged 12. Also in the household are their au pair, Debbie Robertson, a 23 year old from South Africa, Lauren Brown and Chan Persad, who are Herbs caregivers. Herb has advanced dementia and some kind of Parkinsonian disease that makes it virtually impossible for him to complete a sentence. He is also quite often weak and confused. Scenes of Herb Winokur and family at his Fire Island beach house. Herb goes for a walk with Julie Winokur and pays a visit to Wes Little, the owner of the Seaview Market, one of his old haunts. He is accomplanied by his granddaughter, Isabel Kashi. |
